Paterno family lawsuit seeks records from Big 10

Updated: Saturday, March 15 2014, 11:07 PM CDT
BELLEFONTE, Pa. (AP) -- The family of the late Joe Paterno and others suing the NCAA and Penn State are asking for records from the Big Ten Conference from the period before the NCAA issued penalties over the Jerry Sandusky child molestation scandal.

The subpoenas that were made part of the court record on Friday are looking for contacts between the Big Ten and the NCAA and between the Big Ten and Penn State.

The plaintiffs are also looking for communications between the Big Ten and the Freeh Group, which was hired by Penn State to report about how university officials responded to complaints about former assistant football coach Sandusky.

The requests include discussions about Penn State's multi-year bowl ban, temporary reduction of football scholarships and $60 million fine. Paterno family lawsuit seeks records from Big 10
