The life of Arizona native, 12-year-old Jake Ansett, is about to change forever.

Two years ago he was diagnosed with a rare degenerative eye disease that has left him nearly blind.

Doctors tell him without a cornea transplant he will lose his sight entirely.  However, Jake's mom saw an Olympic gold medalist who suffered the same condition and was able to have it fixed through a new medical procedure. "What they do is put a solution in the eye and then they use a light to stop the progression of the Keratoconus," she explained, and Jake is having the surgery.

He's expected to have perfect vision by the end of the week.
