Crossbow, Hunting equipment among items stolen from cars in W. Hempfield Twp.

West Hempfield Township Police are investigating numerous reports of thefts from vehicles.

The incidents happened on Sunday between midnight and 7 a.m. in the 700 block of Raintree Rd, the 5400 block of Marietta Avenuem, and on Route 30 near Prospect Road.

Police say eleven cars were broken in to.

All of the vehicles were unlocked with the exception of a disabled vehicle that was located on Route 30. The disabled car was reportedly locked, but police say the door lock was drilled out and the dash radio was removed.

On January 2nd, Police took a report of another disabled vehicle that was damaged. This car was sitting on Route 30 near the Donnerville Road overpass. Police say while it was sitting alongside the road, all four wheels were removed and a passenger side window was smashed in.

Several items were stolen from the cars, including, electronics (GPS, Radios, charging cords), cash, Personal ID, a large amount of hunting equipment, an Excalibur Exomax Cross Bow ($960.00 value) and a Ruger .22 cal pistol (not loaded).

Police urge residents to lock their vehicles and ask you not to leave valuables in view from the outside.
