SPRING GROVE -- Police are investigating a hit-and-run accident involving a school bus that happened early this morning.

Just after 7 p.m., a Durham school bus with 36 children from the Spring Grove School District was traveling east-bound on Old Haover Road near Sycamore Drive. The bus was on its way to school with high- and middle- school aged children. It had stopped at the railroad tracks near the village of Menges Mills.

It was hit from behind by a vehicle that did not stop for the railroad tracks or the bus. The driver stayed on the scene briefly, then told the bus driver that she would return.

She left and did not return. The driver is described a a white female, between ages 40 and 50, with blonde hair. The vehicle was described as an older model, brown Chevy pick-up truck.

The bus driver obtained the truck's license plate and provided that information to police. As of this afternoon, the driver has not contacted police to report the accident.
The bus sustained substantial damage from the crash. Many of the students reported bumps and bruises, and one student sought medical attention for a non-life-threatening injury.
Anyone with information about this crash is asked to call police at 225-1333.Driver sought in school bus hit-and-run
