Police in Lancaster County say they are searching for a man who is wanted for allegedly impersonating a federal agent.

On Wednesday, Ephrata Police say they were called to the 900 block of North State Street for reports of a suspicious male ringing a resident's doorbell.

Police say when they arrived, a male driver who was from the Lancaster Area Taxi Company, told police he was given instructions to pick up the resident and take her to an unknown address in Lancaster City.

Ephrata Police learned the resident received several calls throughout the day Wednesday from a person saying they were a "Federal Agent."

The caller allegedly told the resident because of her illegal purchase of a diet supplement several years ago, she was being arrested and would need to post bail money to clear up the arrest.

The caller said he would send a taxi to the woman's home so she could go post bail.

A taxi showed up at the woman's home, and that's when she called police.

Police say they called the local taxi company, where they spoke to the supervisor. The supervisor confirmed he had received a call from a "Federal Agent," who requested a taxi pick up the woman at the above address.

Police confirm the call was not actually from a federal law enforcement official or agency.

If anyone has information about this, police urge you immediately call them.
