FAYETTE COUNTY -- Thieves posing as volunteers stole a Salvation Army kettle in Fayette County.

Police say a woman walked up to a volunteer and said she was a relief ringer. The woman and another man took off with the kettle, apron, and bell.

They set up at another location, fraudulently collecting money before they took the whole loot.

The theft was reported to police after the real volunteer showed up for his shift. Salvation Army officials say there's no way of knowing how much money was stolen.
