Flood watch in Central PA

CENTRAL PA -- A flood watch is in effect for Central PA from Saturday afternoon through Sunday evening.

The National Weather Service has issued this watch because warming temperatures will lead to sufficient melting and ice break-up on waterways in the area.

The combination of potential ice jams and rainfall amounts between a 0.50 inch and 1 inch could result in flooding.

Ice jams can form quickly and cause sharp backwater rises especially on smaller streams that flow into main stem rivers.

For precautionary purposes, stay with CBS 21 for updates to the forecast and be alert for possible flood warnings.

If you live in an area prone to flooding, be prepared to take action should flooding develop.Flood watch in Central PA
