LANCASTER -- Former Pastor Frank Schaefer was the Human Relations Day preacher on Sunday for the First United Methodist Church of downtown Lancaster. Schaefer spoke about human relations and how it relates to his faith, family, and his recent ordeal with the Board of Ordained Ministry of the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference of The United Methodist Church.

Until recently, Frank Schaefer was the pastor of Zion United Methodist Church of Iona in Lebanon County. In November of 2013 his clergy credentials were involuntarily removed by the board, after officiating at the gay marriage of his beloved son.

Human Relations Day is a time of recognition, to reaffirm the right of all God's children in realizing their potential as human beings in relation to serving each other and the common good.
