HARRISBURG – New Orleans Saints wide receiver Marques Colston of Susquehanna Township has been recognized by Pennsylvania Governor Tom Corbett for being a leader in the community.

Colston was honored at an event Tuesday afternoon at the Governor’s residence in Harrisburg. Five others were also honored as part of Black History Month.

Colston has partnered with PinnacleHealth as team owner of the Harrisburg Stampede indoor football team to help promote healthy lifestyles among children and young adults, according to the Governor's office. He and the Stampede have also worked with the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank and the Salvation Army in Harrisburg.

“What we are recognizing is that the quiet heroism - the hard work, optimism and faith in the goodness of human-kind - is an everyday aspect of these individuals’ character,” said Corbett in a statement.

All the honorees were nominated by members of the Governor's Advisory Commission on African American Affairs.
