DUNCANNON -- With the new year comes an annual tradition for many people in the mid-state.

CBS 21 stopped by the Perry Valley Grange Hall in Perry County to check out pork and homemade sauerkraut.

Volunteers were serving food, which many see as good luck, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. this afternoon.

They prepared 325 pounds of pork, 300 pounds of potatoes, and 40 gallons of sauerkraut.

"About 12 people Sunday and the same thing on Monday, about 12 people again on Monday, and then they set up the dining room on Monday,” Peg Bolton, one of the volunteers, said about the preparation.

Volunteers say the money raised will go to Bobbie Jo Rumfelt, who is dealing with a second bout of cancer.Grange hall holds New Year's dinner fundraiser
