HANOVER -- A child luring attempt in the Hanover area has parents on high alert, especially after two previous reports the week before.

Hanover police say a 14-year-old girl was walking in an alley near the 600 block of Middle Street between 4:30 and 5:30 Wednesday evening.

She told police a man in an older, white SUV or work van tried to stop her. When she did not stop, she says the man grabbed her shirt. She was able to escape and run home.

"She ran home, she was a mess. She was just shaking and jerking and crying we could hardly get any information," her mother said.

The girl described the man to her mother as tall, white with a white beard, lanky, and "dirty-looking."

Lt. Chad Martin with Hanover police says they are not linking this incident to two incidents in nearby Penn Township last week.

In those, a boy reported he was approached by a man in a green van on Franklin Street and a girl reported a man in a green van approached her on Amanda Avenue.Hanover parents on high alert after third attempted child luring in two weeks
