HARRISBUG -- Chances are, if you've walked down North Third Street, you've seen Mike Blum selling flowers along the sidewalk.

For those who live and work near there, he's quite a fixture.

But now, this street-side florist is slowing down, and plans to retire.

Blum's goal has been to brighten someone's day. He's the best-kept secret until you walk past his little stand and find him.
"I was nervous about starting and owning my own business," Blum said, adding that he started out making a profit.

Blum is famous for allowing the customer to set the price, whether it be $5 or $50. You give him the money, and he'll give you a bouquet.

With the help of a friend, he's got quite a few regulars.

But the flower man, who lives more than an hour away, is ready to wrap it up.
At 60 years old, he has heart disease. His mother is 92 and lives in Boston and he wants to go and spend some time with her while he still can.

Although he's cutting back his hours, the stand will live on with help from his friends. He plans to visit often.Harrisburg flower man retiring
