Harrisburg's highest ranking female police officer retires

The highest ranking female police officer in Harrisburg announced she will retire.

Captain Annette Oates was honored on Tuesday at a reception in the MLK Government Center. She will officially retire on March 9th and will take a new job as director of security at HACC.

Captain Oates was born and raised in Harrisburg and is a graduate of Central Dauphin High School.

Oates was with the Harrisburg Police Department for 28-years. She graduated in the top half of her class from the Hershey State Police Academy. Harrisburg's highest ranking female police officer retires
