On Monday, a homeowner took matters into his own hands when he caught a man burglarizing his home.

Fairview Township Police Department responded to the 800 block of Lexington Place for an active burglary.

The homeowner told police that he arrived home and found an intruder inside.

The homeowner says he got home and saw an unknown van in his driveway. When he went inside, he heard footsteps coming from upstairs.

That's when 44-year-old Robert W. Dierich of Camp Hill came downstairs, trying to cover his face.

The homeowner said he was calling police and Dierich rushed at him, shoving and tackling.

The homeowner was able to hold down Dierich until police arrived.

Property from the home was found in Dierich's van.

Dierich was arrested and charged with burglary, robbery, simple assault, and theft.

He was taken to York County prison, in lieu of $20,000 bail.
