IRS sends out scam warning

The IRS is sending out a nation wide warning about a scam that is targeting thousands.

The agency says callers are pretending to be IRS agents and calling taxpayers to tell them they owe taxes.  The caller then demands payment using a prepaid debit card or wire transfer.

Officials say if the caller's requests are refused, the victim is threatened with arrest, deportation, or a loss of business or driver's license.

The IRS says agents do not demand you to pay by card or wire transfer.  They will contact people by mail first.
