CAMP HILL – Doctors, nurses, and volunteers from around the mid-state are on their way to India.

We caught up with group in Cumberland County as they were packing up. They're leaving for "Operation Medical," which is a surgical mission trip to India.

Dozens of doctors and volunteers from right here in Central PA will be performing surgeries and offering other medical care to underprivileged people.
The group has about 300 patients lined up, and they're treating children as well as adults.

"A simple expression on the face of these people who probably do not speak the same language as we do, because we've been to  the Philippines, Thailand, Ethiopia, India, and Honduras, and it's not the language, not the words, it's the expression on the face that makes you come back again and again." Mukul Parikh, president of Operation Medical, said.

“In the United States, we are very blessed with good health care. There's so many people around the world that really need quality health care,” Mary Jensik, executive director of Operation Medical, said.

The group will be overseas for more than a week. Last year, Operation Medical went to Haiti.
