Man accused of breaking into home, assaulting ex-girlfriend

Swatara Township Police are investigating after a man allegedly broke into a home and assaulted his ex-girlfriend.

Officers were called to the 3800 block  of Old Township Road on Tuesday night for a report of a domestic dispute. When officers arrived, they learned that Ryan Hess had broken into the home and assaulted his ex-girlfriend.

Hess had already fled the scene before officers arrived. While officers were searching for him, he was observed returning to the woman's home. Police conducted a search of the home and Hess was found inside of a locked bathroom.

Although he resisted the officers, he was placed into custody.  Officers recovered an unloaded stolen handgun from the bathroom, as well as drug paraphernalia. 

Hess was charged with burglary, receiving stolen property, simple assault, resisting arrest, criminal mischief, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
