A Berks County man is headed to trial, after he was accused of raping a 16-year-old girl. Officials say Rafael Gomez-Echavarria, 21, of Reading allegedly raped the girl in August 2013, while she was staying at the Best Western Hotel on Eisenhower Boulevard in Lower Swatara Township, Dauphin County.

The girl, now 17, testified that Gomez-Echavarria raped her while she was staying in the hotel room of Alicia Colon, the coach of her high school field hockey team.

Gomez-Echavarria is charged with rape, sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault, indecent assault, corruption of minors, and unlawful contact with minors.

At the conclusion of his preliminary hearing all charges were bound over for trial.
