Man accused of stealing over $1,500 in coins

A Lancaster County man is facing charges after allegedly stealing over $1,500 in coins from a home in New Holland.

On Sunday, a resident of a home on Diller Avenue reported that three large containers of coins were stolen from his home. The resident told police that he had been allowing the suspect to live with him for the past week.

Police say Troy Hickey, 24, allegedly took the coins to the Ephrata Wal-Mart where he was observed with an unknown female. Hickey allegedly cashed three large containers at the Coinstar machine.
 
New Holland Police obtained surveillance video, which police say showed Hickey and the female entered the store with the coins. The two allegedly obtained $1,578.04 from cashing in the coins.

Hickey was charged with theft by unlawful taking or disposition. He was arrested and taken to Lancaster County Prison on $40,000 cash bail and a detainer from from Lancaster County Adult Probation.Man accused of stealing over $1,500 in coins
