Man assaults police officer in York

YORK -- Police Officers from the Neighborhood Enforcement Unit stopped a car driven by a person with outstanding warrants around 11:48 p.m. Friday night.

During the stop John T. Hill III, a passenger in the car, was identified as a wanted person.

Hill punched one officer in the face and fled on foot when police tried to arrest him.

Police say during the pursuit Hill attempted to gain access to a car driving by and when he was unable to do so, he ran into a bar on the 300 block of East College Avenue. 

When Hill was arrested in the bar police seized $689 cash, 117 bags of heroin, 7 grams of crack cocaine and 16 grams of marijuana he had on him. 

Hill was taken to Central Booking for arraignment for the following charges: possession with intent to deliver, aggravated assault on a police officer, resisting arrest and other associated charges. Man assaults police officer in York
