Updated: Wednesday, October 30 2013, 12:47 PM CDT
State Police have charged a man with homicide by vehicle for a crash that happened on August 14th in Hamilton Township, Adams County.

The crash happened around 3:45 p.m. in the 200 block of Forest Drive.  Police say Jonathan M. Giannotto, 44, of Abbottstown was driving a pickup truck east on Forest Drive when it had struck a lawnmower that 55-year-old Charles E. Ankney was riding. Police say Ankney suffered from serious injuries and died as a result of the crash.

State Police, the Adams County Coroner's Office and the Adams County District Attorney say Giannotto was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash. Officials say Giannotto also caused the crash.

A warrant was issued for Giannotto's arrest. He was arrested at his home and taken to Adams County Prison and charged with homicide by vehicle while DUI, driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs and other summary traffic violations.

He was arraigned on $50,000 bond. At this time, no preliminary hearing is scheduled. Man charged with homicide by vehicle for August crash
