Man cited after hit and run crash in Ephrata

A Lancaster County man is facing charges after a hit and run crash.

Ephrata Police were called to East Mohlers Church Road on Monday night, after a witness reported seeing a small sedan strike a sign and tree and flee the scene.

The witness told police the car failed to negotiate a sharp turn in the roadway and skidded sideways into the sign and tree. Police say the crash caused extensive damage to the rear passenger side and bumper area of the car.

The witness told police the vehicle stopped in a field and the drove away from the crash scene with a flat tire and extensive damage.

Ephrata Police officers located the car a mile from the scene.  The driver, Frederick Marafioti, 49, of Ephrata was cited with fleeing the scene of an accident and careless driving.
