Many in Harrisburg waiting for the strawberry have resolutions for the New Year

Updated: Tuesday, December 31 2013, 10:51 PM CST
Reported by James Tully:

HARRISBURG -- A crowd is waiting anxiously for the strawberry to drop in Harrisburg.

This comes just a week after the strawberry was dropped and shattered during a test run.  Crews were able to make a new one just in time for it to be ready for the New Year’s Eve festivities.

The public opinion, let’s just say nothing beats the original.

Although it is tough to find original ideas for New Year’s resolutions, everybody has one.

We are reminded on this night, as we are every year that resolutions can range from simple, “I'm trying to get a four-point o a semester so we'll see about that,” commented a student.

To the flat out weird, “my New Year’s resolution is to eat more seafood,” one person told us.

Guess it depends how hard you party. And there is always the inevitable.

“Stop smoking, these are way too much money and it's killing me,” is the resolution set by one person taking in the festivities on New Year’s Eve.

Then some want to leave more behind in 2013 than others.

“I want to go to New York or California, getting out of here,” stated one.  “I’m ready to go to SoCal, nice and warm, won’t have to wear this anymore. I want to get out of here.”

But for those staying in the Commonwealth for 2014, maybe there's really only one thing you need.

“Yep that's what I want for my New Year's.  Spend more time with her,” commented one.
