A student at JP McCaskey High School is facing charges after allegedly bringing a gun to school.

On Thursday morning, an Assistant Principal received information from a student, that another student had a gun in the school. The information was then passed on to the school resource officer.

Police say the school resource officer took Darnell Green, 18, out of class without incident.

"Greene was found in possession of a Ruger .22 Caliber semi-automatic hand gun," a press release said. Police say the gun was not loaded and Greene did not possess any ammunition or magazine for the handgun. Greene also allegedly had a small amount of marijuana in his possession.

He is charged with possession of a weapon on school property, firearms not to be carried without a license, and possession of a small amount of marijuana.
