Get ready to pay more for parking in Downtown Harrisburg.  Starting Monday, the new meter system will go live.

It’s a story CBS 21 News has been following for you since the beginning.

The new pay stations allow you to pay in many ways, getting rid of the need for coins.

Forty multi-space, on street pay stations have been installed in Harrisburg’s central business district.

The new on-street meter will be enforced Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. with a standard rate of $3 per-hour or $.75 cents for 15 minutes. You will be able to pay with a credit card and even your smartphone!

As for parking tickets, they’re now $30 and $50 if you don’t pay in four days.

Also beginning March 22, Saturday parking will no longer be free.
