Pilot flies to the ends of the earth to give life

HARRISBURG -- As the sun set over Harrisburg, a pilot landed his plane after a very long flight with a very special passenger.

“I’ve flown with a lot of people and he’s one of the best passengers I’ve ever had!” said Pilots N Paws pilot Phillip Angert.

He, is Yoshi. The dog.

"We made it!" said Angert.

Phillip and Yoshi’s journey began four days and 2,500 nautical miles ago at a high-kill shelter in Los Angeles.

Yoshi was given a death sentence and Phillip came to his rescue.

What came next was a cross-country trek, the first for both human and dog.

The pair made stops in New Mexico, Kansas and St. Louis where Yoshi experienced snow for the first time, and finally Harrisburg.

"Every day he's coming more to life," said Angert.

Phillip is part of the Non-Profit Pilots N Paws, matching pilots with animals who are set to be euthanized who then fly them to their forever home. Every penny of the journey is paid for by the pilot.

"We are so thankful for Phillip and his amazing journey -- words can't express how grateful we are," said Pilots N Paws Board Member Pamela Wahl.
"Hello baby doll...awe, you're licking me!" said Wahl.

And when asked why he did it, he said, "Do you have a dog? Then you would know!” Angert laughs.

Yoshi is finally safe and sound thanks to an unlikely friend who flew to the ends of the earth to give him life.

"It wasn't the plane that did it. It was people getting together and anyone could do that." said Angert.

Yoshi now goes to a foster home in New Jersey where he’ll live until he finds his forever home. If you want to help Pilots N Paws there are many ways you can help. The non-profit is always looking for Pilots, but even if you don’t have a pilot’s license or plane there are ways you can help.
