Police chase in Mechanicsburg leads to arrest of robbery suspect

MECHANICSBURG -- East Pennsboro Township Police have a man in custody following a police chase on Sunday.

This arrest was a joint effort by Mechanicsburg Borough, East Pennsboro Township, Lower Allen Township,
Silver Spring Township, Hampden Township and Camp Hill Borough Police.

According to police, they identified the man as Robert Arnett, 37, wanted in connection with a purse robbery near the Kmart on Enola Road in Enola.  Police say Arnett was also wanted in connection with a robbery at Scottee Coin Laundry in Mechanicsburg.

Officers attempted to stop Arnett in Hampden Township. Arnett refused to stop and led police
on a high speed chase.

During the chase, Arnett crashed his vehicle
into another vehicle and ultimately crashed his vehicle into a a home
located in the Borough of Mechanicsburg. Arnett fled the scene on foot,
after crashing into the residence, and was found a short time later,
hiding in a dumpster on West Keller and York Street.

Arnett was taken into custody and charged with robbery, simple assault, theft, fleeing or attempting to elude police, accidents involving damage to an attended vehicle or property and reckless driving.

He is currently in the Cumberland County Prison awaiting arraignment.
