A Middletown man is facing charges after allegedly raping a woman who has special needs.

Police say John Philip Peterson, 43, of Genesis Court, raped and assaulted the woman in July 2013. Peterson allegedly told the woman, "Don't tell anyone, it's our secret."

The assault happened at the woman's home in the borough, court documents say. Police say the victim alerted her mother, who then notified Middletown Police.

Peterson is currently being held at Dauphin County Prison on unrelated charges. He is scheduled to be arraigned on Friday, on charges of rape, rape of a mentally disabled person, indecent assault, and sexual assault.
