Scranton man arrested after traveling to Harrisburg to have sex with teen

The Attorney General's Office has charged a Scranton man after he allegedly drove to Harrisburg to have sex with a 14-year-old girl.

Officials say Herbert Scott Eaton, 56, of Scranton allegedly used Yahoo! Messenger to contact an undercover agent who was using the online profile of a 13-year-old girl.

According to the criminal complain, Eaton allegedly discussed meeting the girl to have sex with her and sent the girl a photo of an adult male's penis.

On Friday, Oct. 11, Eaton allegedly traveled from Scranton to Harrisburg to meet with the girl and her 14-year-old friend and was taken into custody by agents from the Office of Attorney General at an undisclosed location.

Eaton is charged with one count of unlawful contact with a minor (related to involuntary deviate sexual intercourse), one count of unlawful contact with a minor (related to statutory sexual assault), one count of unlawful contact with a minor (related to indecent assault), one count of unlawful contact with a minor (related to obscene or sexual performances) and one count of criminal use of a communication facility.

Eaton was preliminarily arraigned Dauphin County central booking and held on $50,000 bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Oct. 22.
