Sen. Cruz says he did the right thing

On Saturday, U.S. Senator Ted Cruz still says he did the right thing. Cruz is the Texas senator who delivered a thirteen hour speech to Congress just hours before the government shutdown and start of healthcare reform exchanges. Cruz sat down and talked with Jessica Headley from our sister station in San Antonio, Texas.

Senator Cruz has taken a very visible stand against the Affordable Care Act and overspending in the U.S. government. So visible, many associate him with the government shutdown.

"I think it was absolutely worth taking a stand. Look, people are frustrated, frustrated with Washington because career politicians in Washington aren't listening to the American people," says Cruz.

Senator Cruz says the money lost in a 16 day shutdown will ultimately salvage jobs and our economy in the end. His number one priority for his constituents is, "When you listen to Texans, their number one priority is jobs and bringing back economic growth. Obamacare is the biggest job killer in this country."

Did the shutdown cause more harm than good? With a temporary plan in place, that only gets the government operating through the beginning of the year. Senator Cruz says it's one that puts the United States further into debt.

"The Washington establishment cut a lowsy deal that has more debt more spending and does nothing. Zero for all of the young people coming out of school who can't find a job, because of Obamacare this deal does nothing, says Cruz."Sen. Cruz says he did the right thing
