HARRISBURG -- A 17-year-old Harrisburg boy is facing robbery charges after an incident at the Exit 77 Truck Stop, 7800 Linglestown Road.

Trevor Wallace McGarrity has been charged as an adult and is in prison in lieu of $250,000 bail.

The robbery occurred just before 2 p.m. Sunday when McGarrity entered the store dressed in blue jeans, a mask, gloves, and a green hooded sweatshirt. He was holding what looked like an assault rifle at hip-level. He pointed it at the clerk and threw a plastic bag on the counter.

As the clerk began putting money in the bag, McGarrity said, "Faster," and also told the clerk to "check underneath the drawer." He then took the bag with the money and walked out the door.

He walked down the road to where a silver Honda Civic was parked. A store employee followed McGarrity down the road, watched him take the mask off, and get into the coupe. The employee wrote down the PA registration number.

The vehicle was located within an hour and McGarrity was taken into custody by state police. Investigation revealed the weapon he displayed was actually an air rifle BB gun made to resemble an AR-15.

McGarrity was charged with robbery, possession of a controlled substance, drug act violations, and gun violations.Teen robber uses BB gun to hold up convenience store
