Two area creeks flood after record rain

Updated: Saturday, October 12 2013, 07:27 PM CDT
HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) - Two south-central Pennsylvania creeks flooded their banks Saturday following two days of record rain.

The National Weather Service reported minor flooding of Yellow Breeches Creek near Camp Hill and Conodoguinet Creek near Hogestown. The water was receding by Saturday afternoon.

Friday's rainfall at Harrisburg International Airport was measured at 4.41 inches, shattering the previous record of 1.47 inches set in 1905. Thursday's rainfall of just over 4 inches also broke a record set in 1894.

The heavy rains prompted the evacuation of a trailer park, closed a number of roads and caused traffic tie-ups. Emergency crews in Lancaster County had to make several rescues.
