UGI warns of email scam

Updated: Thursday, January 9 2014, 12:18 PM CST
UGI is warning customers to watch out for an email scam.

Officials say that customers have been receiving emails from PG&E Energy or Atmos Energy Corporation, stating that they owe money for their energy bills.

UGI is urging anyone who receives this email to delete it immediately and do not click on any links.

Officials say it is a widespread e-mail scam and both PG&E and Atmos have stated these communications are not from their companies. The emails have been sent to both PG7E and Atmos customers and non-customers.

The email message references a fake account number and contains links to spam. Officials say the links on the fake bill will take them to a website that harbors malware.UGI warns of email scam
