UPDATE: Attempted abduction at Lancaster elementary school was false report

Manheim Township Police and the School District of Lancaster both tell CBS 21 that the reported attempted abduction did not occur and was a false alarm.

We will provide more information as it is released by police.

Police are investigating a report of an attempted abduction at at Buchanan Elementary School in Lancaster Township.

According to a release from the School District of Lancaster, the incident happened on Thursday morning. An 11-year-old girl reported that an older, light-skinned male, attempted to abduct them on South West End Avenue.

Police say the man allegedly grabbed the girl and attempted to drag her to a white van. The girl was able to break free and run into the school where she notified school officials.

The suspect is described as an older white or Hispanic male with a long gray beard. He was wearing a green beanie and a green jacket.

The vehicle is a white work-type van with no markings and a dark or gray roof rack and shiny hubcaps.
