UPDATED at 10:26 a.m. March 15, 2014:

PennDOT tells CBS 21 that the contractor finished early and restored both directions of I-83 to two lanes a little before 6:00 this morning.

According to PennDOT, there are a few patches that need to be done in the right lanes that will likely be scheduled for a future date.

PennDOT has scheduled more repair work on I-83 this weekend in York County. This time, the work will be done just north of the City of York.

At 9 p.m. on Friday the left lane of I-83 will be closed, in both directions, in the area of Loucks Mill Road. The lane closures will happen between Exits 19 and 21.

Construction crews will make concrete patch repairs to the decks of the bridges over the Codorus Creek, Loucks Mill Road, and Norfolk Southern railroad tracks.

All three bridges are located within a short distance of each other. The construction crews will also replace expansion joints in the bridge deck over Loucks Mill Road.

PennDOT says the repairs should be completed by the end of the day on Saturday. It’s possible the work can be finished earlier, perhaps by around noon, a press release said.

If the repairs are not completed on Saturday, the construction crews intend to return the following weekend to finish the work.

Motorists are asked to be alert to this operation and to slow down when approaching and traveling through the work zone, for their safety as well as the safety of the construction crews.UPDATE: Both lanes on I-83 between exits 19 and 21 reopened
