UPDATE: Coroner ID's man killed in Heidelberg Twp. crash

SPRING GROVE -- A crash in York County killed a van driver and turned into a HAZMAT situation Thursday afternoon.

The accident, which happened around 3:30 p.m. left a busy road closed for several hours.

The driver of the van that collided with a semi truck was pronounced dead. He has been identified as Kenton Fuhrman, 46, of Heidelberg Township.  The crash is on Route 116 in Heidelberg Township, between Porters Road and Longview Drive. Route 116 is known as York Road locally.

The van is owned by Jacoby Transportation - out of Gettysburg. The company provides transportation for several local schools and businesses. No children were in the van at the time of the accident.

The accident turned into a HAZMAT situation when the semi-truck began leaking diesel.

According to the coroner, Fuhrman died from blunt force trauma and was not wearing a seatbelt.

The Coroner has been called to the scene of a crash in Heidelberg Township, York County.

The crash happened in the 6500 block of York Road, around 3:45 p.m.

Dispatchers tell us a school van and a tractor trailer are involved. No students were in the van at the time of the crash.

Hazmat is also on scene because a saddle tank on the semi ruptured.  Rt. 116 (York Road) will be closed for at least the next 90 minutes.
