The bodies of a man and a woman have been recovered from the scene of a house fire in Lower Allen Township, Cumberland County.

The Cumberland County Coroner says the body of a man was pulled from the home on Tuesday morning. The body of a woman was found on Monday night.

The fire broke out in the home along the 1600 block of Carlisle Road around 10:00 a.m. on Monday. Police say a public safety officer talked to neighbors shortly after arriving at the scene and advised dispatchers of a possible entrapment. Neighbors told the officer that they had seen the homeowner outside shoveling about 30 minutes before the fire broke out.

Police say a passerby was able to open the front door and yell for anyone inside, but did not get a response.

Fire crews responded to the scene, but the home was engulfed in flames. Police say the first floor of the home and a portion of the second floor in the home collapsed.

Police say the bodies were both found on the second floor of the home.

The names of the victims have not been released, pending the results of autopsies. The autopsies are scheduled for Wednesday in Lehigh County.

According to the PA State Police Fire Marshal, the cause of the fire will be ruled undetermined due to the severe damage to the house.

Officials say they are confident the fire started in the basement, but the exact cause is unknown.

Police say no firefighters were injured. UPDATE: Two killed in Lower Allen Township house fire
