YORK -- The fire that broke out in downtown York just after 9 p.m. Tuesday has been ruled an arson.

The fire was in a duplex house in the one-hundred block of west king street. The deputy fire chief at the scene said the fire was obviously suspicious.

The fire started on the first floor and acting fire chief David Michaels tells CBS 21 there's been about $10,000 in damages.

No one was living in either side of the house at the time. The call came in just after nine p.m. and fire departments made a quick response.

There are no injuries at this time, and police are continuing to investigate the cause. The would not discuss what leads they may have, but they have ruled out all other causes and positively identified this as an arson.

Because the home was vacant, no one has been displaced.

Police went into the house to investigate further as fire crews knocked down walls to make sure the fire was fully extinguished.

West king street is closed between neberry and beaver streets and the house has sustained pretty heavy damage.

Police are asking anyone who may have been in the area tonight and who may have seen something suspicious to call them.
