Will the Halloween forecast be a Trick or Treat?

Updated: Friday, October 25 2013, 05:53 PM CDT
Reported by Meteorologist Nate Wardle

For kids, one of the few days they actually want the weather to be nice is Halloween night.  Many parents with young children probably agree with that, as it is no fun to go door-to-door in the rain.

Two years ago, we had snow to deal with for Halloween.  2011 was the year with the early-season snowstorm, and even though it did not amount to as much on the roads, some locations saw six inches of snow.  The snow brought down trees, power lines and caused some locations to cancel trick-or-treat.

Then there was 2012, where Hurricane Sandy interrupted many Halloween plans.  The storm brought winds and heavy rain to the area, once again causing trick-or-treat to be cancelled in many locations.

Now, all eyes are on 2013.  Unfortunately, the forecast once again calls for rain.  At this point, it looks like there is still a chance the rain may not arrive until later in the evening, allowing all the ghosts and goblins to be able to make their rounds.

As we move closer to the date, all of our meteorologists will be sure to keep you informed so that you can have a spook-tacular time on Halloween night, whether you are gathering candy or staying home and giving it out! Will the Halloween forecast be a Trick or Treat?
