Woman accused of burning 8-year-old's hands will go to court

Updated: Wednesday, October 23 2013, 12:29 PM CDT
On Wednesday morning, a Harrisburg woman accused of burning an 8-year-old boy's hands, waived her preliminary hearing.

Keisha Moore, 31, is accused of holding an 8-year-old boy's hands under hot water, causing him severe injuries. She allegedly told police she was upset with the boy. Police say the incident happened on July 23rd, but officials were alerted to the boy's injuries when he was brought to the hospital the next day.

The boy was flown to the burn center at Lehigh Valley Hospital in Allentown and had surgery on his hands to prevent further tissue damage.

Chief Deputy District Attorney Seán McCormack says the boy is lucky and his prognosis is good. McCormack says the boy will recover full use and motor function of his hands once they fully heal.

Moore is charged with aggravated assault and endangering the welfare of children. Woman accused of burning 8-year-old's hands will go to court
