York Area Police are warning people right now of a phone scam from someone allegedly pretending to be from Wal-Mart.

Police say victims are getting calls from a Glen Rock, Pa identification; it shows up as "Wal-Mart" on the caller ID.

The caller is said to have a heavy accent and is asking for victims by name, telling them "Wal-Mart" is offering an extended warranty on their cars.

Police say the caller will also have the victim's vehicle make, model, and year; making the caller believe it is a legitimate offer.

After disclosing that information, the caller asks the victim to send a wire transfer to pay for the warranty.

Police are urging you, if someone you do not know asks you to wire money to them, it is most likely a scam.
